Are you ready to get rid of some of the neutrals inside your home? Painting with bright colors can be tricky if you are unsure of how bright colors will look once they are painted on the wall. A color chip that you get from the paint store is very small in comparison to an entire room of painted walls. The team at Davis Paint Company has come up with our 3 Tips on Painting with Bright Colors.
- Buy a sample size of the color you are thinking of painting your room. Get a large piece of cardboard that you would use for a school project and paint it that color. Then hold the board up in the room. This will give you a much better feel for how the color and tone will look in the room.
- Consider lighting in the room if you have a lot of natural light in the room then the color will change with time of day. A strong color might be lighter in the morning than it is after the sun goes down. You may want to use the sample painted cardboard as a guide for this tip as well to check and see if you like the color during different times of day.
- Certain colors evoke certain feelings. Red and Orange are great high-energy colors. Greens and Blues are spa like and peaceful. Yellow is a very happy color. If you want to use a certain room for high activity consider using a Red, Yellow, or Orange. If a room is for rest and relaxation you might consider a Blue or Green. Warning: In most cases, spa-like colors are not normally bright. If you are wanting a room to rest in you may want to consider a softer version of a bright color blue or green that you love.
